Newspaper Design Rationalé
Design Objective: Create the front and inside page of a newspaper based on research from three different newspapers and provide four gray marker illustrations and six advertisements to be featured within the newspaper.
Design Solution: The front page features a large image on the left three quarters of the page near the optical center to create visual interest. The visual flow leads the reader's eye from top-left to bottom-right, keeping with traditional page flow.
The second page is designed to be on the back-side of the cover page. The number of columns switch from four on the front page to five on the back, keeping true to typical newspaper design. The sidebar and masthead are positioned opposite of the fold to balance the full spread of the newspaper. The articles and images are symmetrical to maintain a center-balanced feel between the sidebar on the left and the page fold on the right.
